In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

In the production of my media commodities, my group and I used a number of different media technologies to make them more effective. For instance, for my research blog, i used programmes such as Slideshare in order to be able to put my presentations onto my blog. This was helpful as it allowed me to make my blog more visually appealing as presentaions allow for more images to be used. It also allowed me to save my presentations on a different server which meant that if i lost my work, i could access it via this website.

I also used the website Youtube in every aspect of my work in order to once again make my blog more visually pleasing. I used Youtube to publish my videos for my research, planning and evaluation blogs so that I could easily upload them onto blogger. It also allowed me to gain ongoing feedback for my music video which helped myself and Hannah to improve certain aspects of the video while editing. For example, someone commented that the lighting was too bright on a specific scene, so we changed the brightness using the video adjustment tool which is included in the editing software 'I movies'

For the filming of the music video, my group used an HD camera in order to gain a high quality resoloution for the video in order to make it seem as proffessional as possible and to allow some of the meanings within the music video to be as clear as possible. This made editing much easier as we could use a large number of the shots that we had because of the high picture quality. I believe that if we used a standard definition camera, we would not have been able to use a large number of the shots that we had due to poor picture quality.

The website Blogger has been the most useful tool throughout the entire process of producing my media piece as it has allowed me to present my work in a clear and visually pleasing manor and has given me te oppertunity to make use of the large number of other media technologies at my disposal. It has also allowed me to access information from my teachers through their blogs which has allowed me to make all of my blogs the best they can possibly be. It also gives me the oppertunity to access certain items from my group members that I needed to put on my own blog, for example, some of the pictures such as the plan for my magazine advert were available to me as blogger let me follow my group member's blogs.
